近日国际知名经济学期刊《China Economic Journal》封面头条发表了陈宗胜教授等题为“A reevaluation of the Inverted-U theory of income distribution in China’s public economy”的研究论文。

ABSTRACT: This study delves into the ‘inverted U theory of income distribution in the public-owned economy’ using Chinese provincial panel data from 1990 to 2019. Through meticulous quantitative analysis, it reveals how factors like public accumulation, livelihood security, labor differences, private economy, and urbanization influence income inequality among residents. The research uncovers an inverted U-shaped pattern in income inequality as economic development progresses, affirming the theory’s validity. By examining the impact of institutional variables on income disparity, it showcases China’s successful pursuit of common prosperity while mitigating polarization. This paper contributes significantly to the field by providing extensive data and measurements, shedding light on China’s growth story. Through detailed analysis of provincial panel data, it underscores the importance of institutional factors in shaping income distribution within the public system, offering valuable insights into addressing income inequality.
